Timothy Wingate

Welcome to the world of Pah Theatre!  It is our sincerest hope that we bring enlightenment to all who visit this website and/or attend our performances.  I believe that art is most palatable when it exist on the cutting edge of pro-social/spiritual uplift.  I am thrilled to be a founding member of this truly gifted international, interracial art enterprise and am equally convinced of its timeliness and success potential.

Looking forward to hearing from and seeing you in the not-so-distant future

Timothy Wingate  is an emerging playwright and artist cleverly disguised as a financial accountant.  An artist seeking to avoid becoming trapped beneath the glass ceilings of modern life, he has worked in various facets of theatre and broadcasting over the past three decades; performing, producing, coordinating  and assisting in the direction of diverse projects.  Productions include: "Carousel" with the Clarence Brown Theater of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, "Huck", a theatre-in-the-round stage adaptation of Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn, performed in the Black Box Experimental Theatre of U.T., "Purlie Victorious" staged by the Negro Ensemble Company and "Ghosts" an Off-Off Broadway project performed 'in the round' by the South Manhattan Regional Theatre in New York City.

Tim most recently performed in "Portraits In Black", a variety show  presented by Front Porch Entertainment at the Hayti Heritage Center, in addition to being an ensemble member in a performance of Caryl Churchill's "Far Away" presented at Manbites Dog Theater which received an honorable mention in the annual arts awards published in the Independent, a very popular weekly of the greater RTP region of North Carolina (2004).

Timothy Wingate's playwriting consists of two finished plays, "Through A Glass Darkly" (2003) and "Blood Letters & Lawbreakers"  (2004), and a work-in-progress, "A Concrete Reality" (2005).

Focusing on the link between artistic expression and community well-being, Tim has long been an advocate of grassroot socio-economic activitiy.  In that regard he has served on several committees dedicated to community/cultural/minority affairs and small business development; most notably, Harlem Initiatives Together (H.I.T.) organized by The Riverside Church of New York City.  In 2004 he served on the Coordinating Committee of The Durham People's Alliance while also serving on the selection panel for facility grants provided by the Durham Arts Council.  Since moving to Chapel Hill, NC in 2005, Tim has been assisting in the formation of the Pah Theatre Coalition, an international and interracial group of collaborating local artists organized to establish an arts retreat at The Last Unicorn in Chatham County.  Timothy is a member of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
